Your Names: Lavina & Dallas Shaw

Wedding Date: 28th of October, 2017

Proposal story:
Dallas had secretly organised with my boss to let me have the afternoon off on Valentines Day. He surprised me at work with a bunch of roses and took me down to the Sunshine Cost to a beautiful resort. When we arrive there was a massage planned for me and then Dallas took me out to dinner. I started to get the feeling that he was going to propose to me at dinner but by the time dessert came around and he hadn’t asked, I thought maybe I was mistaken so I didn’t think much more of it. We took a small walk around the gardens before heading back to our room and for some reason he told me to go in first and as I did, I noticed a trail of rose petals to the bed with a big love heart and chocolates and champagne. I turned around in surprise to find him on one knee and asking me to marry him and I instantly replied yes!

Bride’s highlight of the day: The highlight of my day was walking down the aisle to the man of my dreams in a stunning garden with the perfect weather and perfect company. I was filled with so much love that day and the ceremony and hearing my fiance’s vows was the most precious part for me.

Groom’s highlight of the day: The highlight of my day was watching Lavina walk down the aisle.

Why did you choose Beerwah Hideaway for your special day:
We loved the beautiful gardens and the different options available for our ceremony. The reception and balcony are stunning, especially when the fairy lights are lit up. And there are plenty of photo opportunities throughout the property with the beautiful pond, gardens, bamboo trees, pathways, and a rustic old shed amongst the rainforest. We fell in love as soon as we visited!

Describe your theme for the day:
Classic/Rustic with burgundy/red wine, gold and beige colour scheme.

Any tips or words of wisdom for future brides/grooms-to-be in the lead up to their special day:
Yes! If you have any little fun ideas like “Message in a Bottle” or “Dates & Advice” jars, tell your MC/DJ to continually remind guests throughout the night that they are there for guests to use and where they are located. We found that not many people “realised” we had these even though the MC did announce it at the beginning of the night. Everyone was sort of chatting and not paying attention so it’s a good idea to get them to remind the guests throughout the evening.

Secondly, ask the staff to put some food away for you and your husband/wife. I found that we hardly ate at all during the night because we were constantly doing something or talking with someone. Amanda was amazing and grabbed me a plate of potato bake because I was starving!
