Proposal Story

I had my suspicions when Brian told me he was taking me away for the weekend, because he’s not one to organise anything, but I think that’s probably because he’d spent 11 years just organising how to propose to me, because it was like a fairytale and couldn’t have been more perfect.

He took me away for the weekend to Uki NSW in a beautiful chalet at Ecoasis.

Once we had arrived he made me drag our esky half a kilometre from the car to the chalet with great difficulty while he quickly went ahead (which I now know was so he had time to set up hahaha)

When I got to the chalet in a huff after I’d struggled with the esky he told me to be quiet, covered my eyes and walked me up stairs onto a verandah overlooking Mount Warning with our favourite song playing in the background.

He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We had a candle light dinner and a peaceful weekend together without any phone or internet reception.

Why did you choose Beerwah Hideaway for your wedding reception:
It just felt right – it was well priced for the inclusions, the staff were so down to earth, friendly and genuine. After the many venue viewings, it was the first venue we both looked at each other and neither of us had doubts. So convenient having ceremony, reception and accommodation in one place. They didn’t charge all the extras that other venues did and the grounds and reception area were jaw dropping! I could go on forever it was just perfect.

Describe your theme for the day:

Native boho.

Niketa’s highlight of the day:

Having Brian walk up the aisle and collect me so we could walk down together, because like anything we do in life, we do it together.

Brian’s highlight of the day:

The unexplainable feelings the moment I saw the bridesmaids start walking out, because I knew there were only seconds until I got to see my beautiful bride. That was the moment it all became real, and then seeing her walk down the aisle was the highlight.

Tips or words of wisdom for future brides/grooms-to-be:

Enjoy every moment! Schedule some time into your day between your ceremony and reception just for the bride and groom, even if it’s only 15 minutes to touch base and be present in the moment because it’s very busy and it is over so quickly. Your biggest investment will be your photography, and I can not recommend a videographer enough, it allows you to re live the day over and over again.
